The Department of Informatics and Telecommunications co-ordinates and participates in numerous research and development projects. During 2010-2015 the Department participated in 33 European and National research and development projects with significant results both on scientific publications and on final products/services. The Department's latest success regarding funding of research projects is the CrossCult project, a short description of which you can find below.

 

Empowering reuse of digital cultural heritage in context-aware crosscuts of European history

CROSSCULT is a HORIZON 2020 project aiming to make reflective history a reality in the European cultural context, by enabling the re-interpretation of European (hi)stories through cross-border interconnections among cultural digital resources, citizen viewpoints and physical venues.
CROSSCULT will use cutting-edge technology to connect existing digital cultural assets and to combine them with interactive experiences that all together are intended to increase retention, stimulate reflection and help European citizens appreciate their past and present in a holistic manner. CROSSCULT will be implemented on 4 real-world flagship pilots and 7 real sites across Europe, and it will be realized through the participation of 11 partners from 7 European countries and 14 associated partners. The project will ensure continuous stakeholder involvement through a Living Lab and it will be supported by a concrete business plan.

The Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, represented by the Human-Computer Interaction and Virtual Reality Lab, participates in CROSSCULT as a consortium member, responsible for scientific and technical coordination.

Project duration: 2016 – 2019
Total Budget: 3.6 million Euros
