Internship program

The project's objective is organize the internships program of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunication of the University of Peloponnese, aiming at the effective training of the department's students in companies and organizations.

The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs and the European Union through the operational program Education and Lifelong Learning of the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) 2007-2013. Individual goals are the following:

  • To promote entrepreneurship of students through the development of organizational, management, and administration skills.
  • To motivate students to perform internships in foreign institutions, in collaboration with the Erasmus program, enabling employment of longer duration (up to 12 months).
  • To allow students become familiar with research and technology, oriented to real labor market needs.

To achieve the above goals, synergies between the Internship Program and the following programs of the University of Peloponnese are envisaged: Career Office, τη Structure of Employment and Career (DASTA), and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit.

Internship Program Details

Internships are not mandatory – as the program is currently implemented at the department. Applicants must additionally register the free elective course "Practical Training" of the Department's study guide. Although the course is placed in the 4th year, students who are about to complete the 6th semester are encouraged to apply.

Internship duration

The department's students have the opportunity to express their interest for internships, whose duration is two months. The application and the required documents are submitted to the department's secretariat (at least 1 month before the estimated starting date of the internship) and are evaluated by the department's coordinator and the supervisors.

Applications evaluation process

The students selection process is carried out by a committee comprised of the department's coordinator and the supervisors, subject to the following documents:

  • application form,
  • transcript of grades, and
  • curriculum vitae.

The committee may request to interview the candidates. The criteria, based on which students are matched with hosting institutions, are associated with the skills demonstrably held by the candidates, prior work experience, interests and performance in courses related to the subject of the internship to the time of application.
